Opus has signed an agreement to sell most of their customer portfolio to EDF.
The transfer of your contract(s) to EDF is likely to take effect from Q3 2024.
What it means for you
For contracted customers, the price you pay for your energy and the way your contract(s) works will not change. Your terms and conditions and your contract end date, where applicable, will stay the same too. Your contract will just be with EDF, rather than Opus Energy.
For customers on Deemed or Out of Contract rates, EDF will be in touch nearer the time with what this means for you.
Please don’t cancel your direct debit as you will continue to be billed as usual. However, the timing of your final invoice date, and the amount, may be adjusted to reflect the date your contract(s) is switched to EDF but contracted customers won’t pay more overall.
Your account balance and billing arrangements remain unchanged for now. It really is business as usual when you switch to EDF, who will be writing to you in the coming weeks with further information.
In the meantime, this news does not impact the customer service you currently receive from Opus.
What do you need to do?
Following satisfaction of certain conditions to completion of the transaction, including regulatory assessment, completion will occur, and both companies will then ensure a seamless transfer of customer contracts.
Opus will be in touch in the coming weeks with more news, but if you have any questions, you can visit Opus’s website – opusenergy.com/news. There’s a dedicated support page to help you understand the changes and a section on frequently asked questions.
